We watched this fascinating documentary on PBS the other night. I think it's worth watching and thinking about. The documentary goes to Great Britain, Japan, Germany, Taiwan, and Switzerland and explains how they have made a universal health care system work for them. It highlights the way each country's system works and talks about it's weaknesses. The one question that stands out the most and the commentator asks in every country is: Does anyone in this country go bankrupt from medical bills? Every country responded with a resounding NO! So why is the US having such a crisis with medical care? Why are the medical costs in the US triple what they are in every other country in the world?! Are we too proud to learn from other country's and CHANGE how we look at health care? Do Americans not see health care as a basic necessity of life? I'm not saying this program has all the answers. I'm just saying we are in a health care crisis in America and it wouldn't hurt to look at how other countrys in this world are taking care of their citizens better than we are! We should not be afraid to go to the emergency room when we are experiencing chest pain because the 2 day hospital stay will cost $40,000. We should never have to file for bankruptcy because we had a life threatening emergency! There ARE alternatives to this free market health care system that have merit and could work here in the US. Watch this program and decide for yourself!

So why is nobody commenting on this? Are we too stupid or chicken $#!% to verbalize our ideas? I mean, blind faith in bad leadership is NOT patriotism. Ironic, that I'm positing this as anonymous.
